We call our community Villa at Morlatton in honor of the early inhabitants of the area. The Swedes were the first Europeans to settle within the present boundaries of Douglassville. These early Swedes adopted the name Morlatton or Molatton, an Indian name
meaning trading post, for their new settlement on the edge of the frontier in 1701. The name, Morlatton, was changed to Warrensburg and later it became Douglassville named after George Douglass, and enterprising merchant.

About Us

The history of the Villa at Morlatton goes back some 30 years when members of the Vestry of St. Gabriel's Church decided to explore the idea of building a retirement community on a hayfield adjacent to the church to provide for the welfare and security of older members of the parish and residents of the Douglassville area. During the late 1980s, the project got a push forward when a member of the church made a contribution to help purchase the land. In 2000, the church established a Campus Master Planning Committee. Church member James Elliott and President of Hollenbach Construction Company, W. James Hollenbach, were asked to assist with the project. Three years later, Messrs. Hollenbach and Elliott would change roles and become the project's developers and builders. The Church's dream was realized in 2005 when Villa at Morlatton opened its Independent Living Community in 2005. A new Assisted Living and Memory Care Neighborhood opened in the summer of 2009, providing a continuum of care to area seniors on one campus.

The Villa at Morlatton campus is located along Route 422 between Reading and Pottstown, PA. The month-to-month lease includes an impressive package of amenities including meals, housekeeping, transportation to group outings, and an abundance of social, recreational and educational activities. Residents of the Assisted Living and Memory Care Neighborhood also receive 24-hour personal care. There are no buy-in fees or hidden costs.
